Best of the Worst: Picking the Best Fast Food Breakfast

best fast food breakfast

Do you remember the days when you had all the time in the world to whip up some fresh pancakes, or make a beautiful Tex Mex breakfast burrito from scratch, all smothered in homemade pico de gallo? Yeah, neither do I.

It’s a shame to admit it, but arguably one of the most frustrating aspects of U.S. culture is how we don’t prioritize breakfast. We hit the snooze at least three times before rushing out the door with toothpaste on our blouses, sleep caked in the corners of our eyes, and a cup of coffee in our hands – thanks to the coffee pot timer. I can’t speak for everyone, but I know that personally, I’m lucky if I snag a piece of peanut butter toast on my way out – more often, I’ll grab something out of the fridge that isn’t even a proper breakfast food, like a carrot, before running out the door.

I know, I’ve been told that’s an odd breakfast habit, but I try my best to stay healthy in the morning, even at my busiest. Sometimes though, the gleam of a fast food sign catches my eye on my morning drive, and I find myself pulling into those cursed lines, ready for something hot and delightful. Below are a handful of things I’ve found that are healthy(ish), filling, and delicious.

Starbucks

Like many of us, I often find myself at Starbucks in the morning, so it clearly deserves a space at the top of my list. Aside from their seasonal coffees and lattes, I reach for a select few of their breakfast items again and again.

First, Starbucks offers some truly delicious oatmeal that puts those microwaveable instant packets of slop to shame. The first one – and my personal favorite – is their hearty steel cut oatmeal with blueberries. I love that the blueberries are fresh, giving me a healthy burst of antioxidants to start my day. I also love that it’s sweetened with organic agave. Although the research on agave is mixed, it is known that agave does in fact rank lower on the glycemic index, which means it doesn’t cause nasty blood sugar spikes that send me crashing by midmorning.

To keep it varied, sometimes I find myself opting for their more traditional oatmeal. While more sugary and devoid of any fresh fruits, it does have a delicious cranberry tang that I love.

Finally, I find that their breakfast wrap with spinach, cage-free egg whites, and feta is a delicious start to my day. I love getting some greens in my morning meal – not an easy feat – and this wrap does the trick. With all fast food though, you’ve got to keep an eye on the sodium intake – this baby packs a whopping 35% of your daily sodium, so while delicious, this is definitely my least-ordered item on the Starbucks breakfast menu.

I find that pairing any of these with their fruit cup leaves me satiated and ready to seize a busy morning.

Einstein Bros. Bagels

Behold the bagel. Such a treat, so delicious toasted, and so easily swings the wide pendulum between healthful and horrendous. I often find myself craving this carb-laden delight, but know that the temptation of an asiago bagel topped with cream cheese can often overpower any healthy decisions I may have wanted to make. At Einstein Bros., however, I find myself craving something much heartier and healthier. I get the power protein bagel toasted and topped with avocado (it costs a little extra, but is so worth it). The good fats from the avocado works alongside the 13 grams of protein from the bagel to give me a hearty, wholesome breakfast that leaves me energized, full, and grateful that I made such a smart choice so early in the day.

Panera

Sometimes, I’m really looking for that extra healthy boost to kickstart my day. Panera, with their fresh-baked pastries and sweets, doesn’t seem like the obvious choice at first glance. However, their smoothies have won me over, and I find myself pulling into their drive thru more and more for a filling smoothie paired with a whole grain bagel.

For the smoothies, I alternate between two: Green Passion or Peach & Blueberry. The Green Passion smoothie is a prime way to start off, as it is not only rich in fruits, but also has spinach snuck in there (hence the name), which gives me ample veggies to start to the day off right. If I’m looking for something a little sweeter, I opt for the Peach and Blueberry smoothie. Made with almond milk, fresh blueberries, and peach puree, it transports me to a soothing summer afternoon, regardless of the season. Alongside a peanut butter bagel, I know I’m going to be revved up and ready to tackle whatever work throws my way!

Taco Bell

Ok, so healthy simplicities like bagels and oatmeal are well and good. But what about when you’re craving something different? Spicy, hearty, and warm, perhaps?

Taco Bell’s breakfast menu is a goldmine. Not only is Taco Bell the only major fast food chain with a menu certified by the American Vegetarian Association, but it also offers healthy swaps, like ordering any menu item “al fresco” style, which replaces cheese and sour cream with pico de gallo.

While my family’s diet isn’t entirely plant-based, we do limit our meat consumption when we can, and I love that Taco Bell lets me honor that even when I’m bleary eyed on a Monday morning. I, for one, am a fan of the Breakfast Crunchwrap California Style, with the meat and eggs swapped out for black beans (free of charge), and ordered al fresco. That way, I have a hashbrown, guacamole, pico, and black bean wrap that is toasted, satiating, and easy to eat on the road. The hardest part? Not ordering two.

Although we all fantasize about being the kind of person who can make themselves a hearty, filling breakfast each morning, the truth is we’re busy. Opting for these healthy breakfast options, I feel less guilty about pulling into the drive thru in the morning, and hopefully you can too. Here’s to a happy breakfast!

Is Walmart’s Family Mobile a Good Deal?

Walmart Family Mobile

Dealing with a phone plan can be a huge hassle. From the year (or longer) commitments, to the hidden fees, it seems a lot easier to go the prepaid route. I, for one, spent years flitting between AT&T Prepaid (formerly called GoPhone) and Boost Mobile before finally getting absorbed into my husband’s family’s plan. I used to spend a year at a time living outside of the U.S., and return for about two months during the summer to visit friends and family.

I used AT&T’s most basic prepaid plan at the time for only $23 monthly, and it was perfect for my needs. It was simple to pay as you go, although buying a phone outright was much more expensive, so I opted for one that had only the basics: talk and text. I loved it.

Over the past few years, Walmart’s Family Mobile plan has emerged onto the prepaid scene as a contender. While it’s one of the cheapest options on the market, there has been a lot of recent negative feedback since they were bought up by TracFone in 2016. Let’s see what all they offer, and why this “newer” carrier born out of two megaliths is being received so poorly by the public.

The Plans

First, let’s take a look at the plans themselves. With four tiers, the plans range from only 1GB of data to unlimited at 4G LTE. The fact that they’re all month-to-month plans gives greater flexibility. If you travel out of the country often, or have unreliable income, month-to-month plans are an ideal fit.

Their cheapest plan starts at around $25. For that much, you can get a phone with unlimited talk and text, plus 1GB data at 4G LTE speed. All data you use afterward will run at 2G speed, which is almost comically slow in this era of high-speed apps, GIFs, and social media.

The second tier is only $5 more, and offers the same unlimited talk and text, plus 3GB of data at 4G LTE speed. Again, after this amount is used, it downgrades to 2GB. This is a lot more data, but considering that Instagram alone uses 720 MB per hour – and if you’re the kind of person who streams shows from your phone, the default streaming rate for Netflix is 1GB per hour – this amount of data won’t get you through the month like it may have a few years ago.

The next tier clocks in at $40 per month, and with that comes 9GB of data at 4G LTE speed. This seems like their most reasonable plan. $40 is a good deal, and with that much data, you can stream music – or even Netflix on a low setting – without worrying too much about eating all of your data in the first two weeks of the month.

However, if you aren’t the sort of person who can compromise on video quality, and your mobile device is your primary method of streaming music and videos, or if you are frequently on Facebook, Instagram, or Snapchat, their most expensive plan is the “Truly Unlimited” one at 4G LTE for any amount of data, for around $50.

What’s the Catch?

Sounds sublime? Not so fast. I’ll admit, I was intrigued by these deals. When AT&T’s unlimited plan is $10 more a month, these options were starting to look better and better.

Then I dug a little further. There is no real in-house service for Walmart Family Mobile Plan, meaning virtually all the advice or assistance you need is either on the phone or online, or at the Walmart Customer Service Desk. There is no brick-and-mortar storefront with employees dedicated solely to the ins and outs of your phone service, just employees who are juggling several duties at once: doing returns or exchanges, assisting in money transfers, and finally, helping you with your phone service.

Busy with so many other tasks, these employees aren’t expertly trained to help you with your service. The other option is assistance over the phone, and Walmart Family Mobile is not best known for their stellar phone service. Most of the time, upgrading your phone, trouble shooting, or just asking for advice comparing plans is best face-to-face. That human experience really makes a difference in smoothing out any kinks in your phone plan.

And this lack of a dedicated storefront or employee base is showing. As of this month, the website Consumer Affairs has received over 150 reviews in 2017, and Walmart Family Mobile has a staggering 1 out of 5 stars for consumer satisfaction. The most common complaint? The customer service.

It seems that lacking a true, dedicated storefront shows. Many people have reported their account information going missing, being put on hold for over thirty minutes, and being transferred from place to place with no real answers. Earlier this month, Charisse, a verified customer of Walmart Family Mobile from Utah, said that she had service only one week out of the month before her phone line was abruptly canceled.

And she wasn’t the only person with a story like this. Another verified customer called Walmart Family Mobile’s customer service “a time-consuming nightmare”. According to the majority of these reviews, they feel the problem in customer service and reception began with their switch to TracFone.

The Skinny

Despite the allure of saving $10 monthly, I would say the resounding headache of customer service should be enough to keep consumers away from Walmart Family Mobile. Unless they shift their business model to make customer service a priority, this venture will not continue to be a viable one for them.

There are several other prepaid plans out there with brick-and-mortar storefronts and face-to-face customer service. Walmart can keep their purported savings – reliable customer support and knowledgeable employees are worth a few extra dollars, anytime.

My Experience with Lifetime Fitness

Life Time Fitness Review

Ah, the holidays. There’s nothing quite like the magic of vibrant presents stacked beneath a tree, cozying up by the fire with a good book, or making snow angels with my kids. Unfortunately, there’s also nothing quite like the temptations that the holiday season brings: hot chocolate, nog, sugar cookies, an endless parade of sweets and treats that, while delicious, leave me sluggish winterlong, unable to fully enjoy the majesty of the season or have the energy I need for some quality family time.

The Life Time Fitness Near Me

Enter Life Time Fitness. I’ve been going here the past few months since I switched over from my local rec center. I had heard about the variety of classes offered, and decided to go in for a trial. While signing up for my free session, I was treated more like a sales number than I had been at any other gym, and almost changed my mind – it felt like I was being pressured to join without having experienced all the gym had to offer. But I warmed up to the experience once I started working out on the main floor.

Equipment & Facilities

It was clean, spacious, and had all the equipment I needed, and then some! And when I saw the pool – complete with water slides and a play area for kids – I was hooked. At the end of my workout, I checked the class list, which was full of names like “Warrior Sculpt” and “Strike”, and that was when I knew for sure. I had to give membership a whirl.

Since joining up, the staff have felt more personable and less pushy. And honestly, how stressed I felt before signing up has been worth it in the long run. My family has gotten so much joy out of the gym since, and the diverse class offerings motivate me like nothing else to get out the door and get my fitness on. And the best part? The opportunities for the whole family.

Classes

It’s been wonderful having my little ones take part in fun classes! As a busy mom of two, it’s amazing to know that my children are having a blast while I’m getting a great workout. Having time to myself is important, but my need for some “me time” shouldn’t mean that my children are glued to their screens or stuck in an underwhelming care center. Instead, my kids, who always seem to be bubbling over with extra energy to burn, get to jump in on karate and yoga classes made for their age groups.

If I come at the right time, there are even Spanish classes for my kiddos. I love knowing that my little ones are having enriching experiences at the same time that I am – and my body feels great from all the time that I have to work out. Whether I’m doing reps, taking the TCX class (intense interval-style cardio), or swimming laps, my kids are engaged in something too. It makes the experience less about “me time”, and more about family time.

While my kids are happily occupied, I feel free to do things that nourish my soul, like engaging in a little self-care with hot yoga. The hot yoga classes help me when the cold has set in for the winter, and the deep stretching and heat leave me cleansed, limber, and refreshed. After a long day, it’s just what the doctor ordered. It really loosens up my muscles and gets me the deep stretch I crave.

Spa Services

Nothing can really compare to the spa services, especially while winter rages on outside. Post workout, I love being able to unwind in the dry sauna or the hot tub. My husband and I often make a date of it; after spending some time on the machines or spinning, we unwind in the hot tub and enjoy one another’s company. It’s a really special chance for us to reconnect after a long, busy day.

Food

By the time we’re finished working out, we’re all ravenous. Sometimes, we’ll treat ourselves to dinner at the café. We make it a no-screen zone, and I use it as a chance to hear about what my kids got to do that day at the gym.

The café itself has a variety of healthy options for adults. My favorite post-workout meal is definitely the spicy vegetable salad – cruciferous veggies are filling and great for digestion – paired with their acai berry recovery smoothie. And my kids love to indulge in a shared almond butter smoothie, giving them some much-needed protein after running around all day.

I do wish the kids’ meal options were healthier – there are mostly pizzas and chicken tenders available – so instead I usually buy them a veggie-loaded bowl or salad, and we take the leftovers home. That’s another thing: the waste. Being health conscious and environmentally responsible go hand in hand, and I’m aware of how much plastic gets thrown away at Life Time, since there are no recycling bins on site that I’ve seen. To avoid as much of the trash as we can, my kids, husband, and I just bring our own water bottles, and I carry an extra to-go container in my gym bag in case one of us can’t finish our meal.

All in all, I’m really thrilled with my choice to join Life Time. The amenities and offerings make my whole family happy while still providing me with time to challenge myself physically. My kids look forward to our time at the gym, and I do too. No amount of snow can keep me from staying fit this year – bring it on, winter!

Inner Peace

Telling someone to be happy doesn’t make it so. We all have struggles in our lives, stresses, phobias, certain things that set us off. Being happy and content takes work. We have to work at getting what we want in life, getting away from what we don’t want, as well. Our relationships with our family and friends, co-workers and strangers, all matter and need to continually worked at. Our relationships with food is just as important.

How we see food, our relationship with food is a deep and complex matter. We find comfort in certain foods, its flavor or texture, or maybe just the aroma can evoke such deep memories for us, it manages to take us back to a happier, more carefree time. Eating our fears, our emotions, our dread, it’s all very real and needs to be worked at all the time.

The word ‘diet’ is one of the worst four-letter words there is. It conjures up such images of carrot sticks and dry bland rice cakes. It also has a heavy feeling of deprivation. You’ve heard the saying, ‘diets don’t work’. It’s mostly true. If you need to lose ten pounds to fit into your fancy dress for the Christmas party, then depriving yourself from eating for a week or two may well get you into the dress. But are you happy? Maybe for the evening, yes, but beyond that? No.

Eating what you want must obviously have limitations but indulging ourselves now and then is fine. A proper diet means not depriving yourself from foods you like but creating a lifestyle that allows you to eat good, healthy food and get away from processed and manufactured or prepackaged foods that are full of things we don’t want in our bodies.

Understanding why you eat will go a long way in understanding what you eat. Our lives are short and meant to be enjoyed. Don’t over eat to the point of obesity, but if you want potato chips or ice cream, just have them. There are always healthy choices for junk food, so live and stop worrying about how big your thighs are. Someone already loves you just the way you ar

If You Can’t Pronounce It, Don’t Eat It!

If it’s not one fad diet, it’s a food group. Last week you couldn’t eat carbs, this week, bread is okay, avoid legumes. Then just when you got used to a vegan diet, everyone has gone caveman with the meat. Last week you were all organic, this week it has to be raw. Frankly, it is enough to make your head spin, and your stomach. Genetically modified foods, pesticides, organic, farm fresh, hydroponically grown, really, where do you start?

Keeping healthy, keeping your diet balanced and eating properly can be difficult with a hectic lifestyle. It’s even harder if you have children, to keep them on track and off junk foods.

Skipping breakfast, then having a sugary pastry with a large coffee, a greasy burger or sandwich for lunch on the go and then pizza or something microwaved for dinner. It might satisfy at the time, but it’s not healthy. Plus, the ingredients are mostly unknown.

Food labelling has definitely come a long way in recent years, but it’s likely not enough. Reading labels on items we buy is a good idea, but it doesn’t tell the whole story. Foods labeled Buying organic might make you happier about the choices you are making but they can be a lot more expensive. The term ‘organic’ can be misleading. It may mean the soil the carrots were grown in was organic, or just the seeds, or maybe just the farmer’s boots. It doesn’t tell us where he got the seeds and if they are genetically modified, like many foods are.

Genetically modified foods, frankenfood, as it’s been called, is food that has had its DNA modified. This is usually for longer shelf life, shorter growing period, quicker ripening and also engineered to resist bugs and other pests. Larger crops, corn, soybean, cotton and foods used for feed, oil and other processing have been being modified for years.

The usage and regulation of these foods varies from country to country and while most scientific research claims they are healthy for consumption, many people still are not convinced. The method of foods being modified today vastly differs from, say, thirty years ago, but many feel any is too much.

Demands in non-modified foods continues to grow, despite the ‘all-clear’ from many sides. Increases in diseases, allergies and less and less resistance to illness has many people pointing at the food we eat. Of course, not just modifying foods adds to it’s health or harm. Environmental problems,  pollution, exhaust, methane from the very livestock that are also being modified, genetically and with hormones and steroids, acid rain, it’s really  a wonder we eat at all!

Not everyone dislikes the GMO foods. Corn, one of the biggest crops and the most modified is widely used for livestock feed, used to make breakfast cereal, corn syrup, which in turn is used widely in other foods, corn oil, it’s really endless. But the increase in crops for the producer and the bug resistants of it means big money for the corn farmer. But even finding products that claim to be GMO free doesn’t mean they aren’t sprayed with pesticides, fertilizers and other harmful chemicals used for bugs and plant diseases.

So, if the soil is organic but the seeds are GMO, how are we to know? Well, we don’t But you can start by buying local, supporting your local farmer at the farmer’s market, where you can ask about the foods you are buying. Read the labels and stay informed.

Unjunked Candy Review

Unjunked candy review

Need to get your chocolate on? Maybe your kids are indulging too much and you are trying to get them off of it? Looking to get a leg up in the New Year for a healthier diet? There are healthy alternatives but seriously, who can eat a raw carrot when chocolate is calling out to you? Chocolate is in its own food category, and so it should be. There are healthy candy and chocolate choices, and Unreal Candy is one of them.

The company was started by a dad and his teenaged sons who he was trying to keep away from junk food. The kids wanted chocolate After several thousands attempts, they came up with the recipe.

Unreal candy has peanut butter cups and M&M types of candy but with none of the really bad stuff. The peanut butter cups are made with dark chocolate and have peanut butter, crispy peanut butter and almond butter centers. The M & M types are called Gems and come in milk chocolate, dark chocolate and crispy dark chocolate.

As far as the ‘No’ goes, it’s an extensive list, No GMO, no corn syrup, no gluten, no artificial tastes or colors, no preservatives and they are vegan, fair trade and use sustainable ingredients. It’s a shame not to eat them, really.

In comparing the gems to M&M’s, the first noticeable difference is the color. Many people have allergic or other reactions to certain chemicals used in food dyes, and these don’t contain that. The color is made from plant-based coloring, and the flavoring is all natural. Just compare the listed ingredients on the packages and you will actually be able to pronounce the ones listed on Unreal’s packages.

The sugar content is lower than most compared candy and they taste creamy without the chemical aftertaste. Kids will likely still prefer the real M&M’s but it’s a start in the right direction. Considering the size of M&M’s, who eats one or two? So for those of us who like getting our chocolate on, and that’s a lot of us, this is a great, healthier alternative.

Of course, it’s still candy so moderation is always recommended, but any time we can do better for ourselves and the world around us, we should at least try.

The company have recently launched new items, and their products are available online and in most major grocery stores. They are a bit more expensive, but at what cost?

Go Dirty Mud Run Girl

Mud running

What was better as a kid than playing in the mud. Mud puddles, mud cakes, walking through it with rubber boots or barefoot so it all squished between your toes. Throwing handfuls of it at your friend or brother, or up against the side of the house, it was endless hours of fun. As adults we can revisit that feeling with mud runs. If you don’t know what they are, they are just what they sound like.

Usually organized for a fundraising or charity event, some of them, like Dirty Girl Mud Run are for fun, fraternizing and fitness. The all-women’s mud run may suit a lot of women better than a general mud run open to anyone. There seems to be less competition for these runs and a lot more more fun. It’s a great way to let loose, let off some steam and have a great time with a great workout.

It’s better with a friend, or even better yet, with a team. It makes a great outing and an original idea for any occasion, bridal hen party, birthday party, or even just team building with your co-workers. Jump, climb, run or walk, there are challenging obstacles but with your friend or team mate, you will have the helping hand you need.

Don’t worry about fitness level, take your time, go at your own pace, fun is the key here. There is no ‘winner’. Just enjoy the run for what it is, no one will be judging you. Walk, run, rest, enjoy. Getting dirty while having fun and taking exercise with your friends is time well spent. Plus, you will meet like-minded women and make new friends and maybe get in some networking, as well.

Take clothes that will withstand the terrain and the workout you will be giving them, take clean clothes, towels and maybe a few extra pairs of socks. You will need them. Clean dry shoes, as well. Take them all in a garbage bag so you have something to carry the dirty ones out. The run can be demanding, so keep that in mind if you want so kind of protective clothing. If you are doing this as a group party, many people like to wear themed costumes, but be sure to wear something you will be able to function in, that won’t snag or trip you up, or get ruined and leave you without adequate coverage or protection. And if it’s a long one, you’ll need a pack to keep things dry and some water and energy drink mix to keep you going.

These events are ongoing, so if you are interested, check for a run in your area. It’s a great day out, or for the more adventurous, there are events that go for a weekend or a few days. It’s a perfect way to jump in the mud, get dirty and have fun, all for a good cause, or just for the fun of it. Meet new people, take a chance, get dirty, fall in the mud, laugh, and then get up and do it all again.

6 Tips for Running Your First Mud Run

Mud run competitors

I ask you, what could be more fun than running in the mud? Precious little from where I’m sitting.  A mud run is an endurance test, usually for fundraising, fun and or fitness. It’s a military type of course to challenge the runners to run, hike, climb, crawl and jump through very often extreme obstacles. If you are considering taking part in one, there are a few things to keep in mind.

Fitness

Don’t worry that you are not in the best of shape. If you are participating for a good cause, like raising money, trying to impress a new love interest or even just for fun, you can compete and complete at your own pace. You can walk, rest, smoke ‘em if ya got ‘em at your own pace, so if you are joining for a cancer fundraising event or similar, don’t worry about it. However, if you are really out of shape and don’t exercise, you may want to train a bit before the run. It’s a good idea to check with a medical professional if you are not sure. As a rule, these events are all-ages, so if a nine year can kick it, what are you worried about?

Clothing

The course may be rather rough and demanding, so if this is the type of mud race where there is a theme or costumes used, think about that carefully. You still need proper shoes, running gear and clothes that won’t bind or drag you down. You also will need protection, elbow and knee pads might help but long sleeves or protection against the elements.  Light clothing are best, durable but breathable. You will need good, heavy absorbent socks, good durable shoes and you will also need a backup of all of these things. Extra socks, clean shoes and clean clothes for afterward, if you think you will need to change. Also, towels, washcloths, and something warm to cover up with, if needed. Also, a garbage bag to get them there and then carry the soiled ones out.

Get A Mud Buddy

Chances are this event is for a particular reason, you want someone with you, for encouragement, for help, for support, to pick you up when you fall and yank you out of the mud. You may well need a hand getting over a wall, under a gate or barrier and you will need to laugh at them when they fall in the mud. You will want to laugh at yourself, as well. It’s just better with a mud buddy.

Food and Water

Fuel up before the race, just not too soon before. Think about high energy snack foods to bring along before the race, bananas, nuts, or multigrain bread. You will need to hydrate before the run and during, if it’s not provided along the way. Carrying may be an issue, so be sure to make provisions for that. A good method is to carry dry energy drink mix because it’s light and packed with the nutrients you need to carry on.

Safety First

There will almost always be some type of emergency personnel on hand for these events, but in case of a slight scrape, bruising or other minor injuries, you may want to have a few bandages or gauze with you. You hardly want to call the ambulance over for a ‘boo-boo’ on your knee, so be prepared to cover it yourself until you finish the run. It might be a good idea to keep a small first aid kit in with your dry clothing, just incase you or someone needs minor attention.

Rock It Like A Hurricane

Have fun, be safe, do your best, enjoy yourself, get dirty.

Zipfizz Review

Zipfizz energy drink reviews

For those of you who use or enjoy energy drinks, this is a decent one. ZipFizz is a concentrated,  carbonated powder you add to water or other beverages. They claim ‘Energy in a Tube’, so the mix powder is very convenient to carry with you. They have over ten flavors and are a great boost pre- or post workout. Vitamins, minerals, with amino acids, electrolytes, plus no sugar and lower in calories than some energy drinks, it’s a great tasting product that is also healthy.

You can have this energy drink as a pick-me-up anytime, morning, after work, whenever you feel the need. It’s very convenient to carry with you, you can take several tubes at a time, which is great when you have limited space for your workout gear.

The product derives it’s boosting power from caffeine, all natural sources, but if you are concerned with your caffeine intake, it’s important to know. Adding one or two of these a day, with your regular coffee or other caffeinated beverages, may prove to be a bit overwhelming. If you are sensitive to caffeine, try one first at home in case you get jittery, but chances are you won’t.

It is effective for boosting your energy levels. You will feel a kick right after consumption and revitalized with a big burst of energy. If you are a regular user of energy drinks, think about trying this one. It seems to be healthier than a lot of them and the flavors are very nice. Another nice feature is the carbonation. It gives the drink a soda-like appearance and quality which is nice. However, the carbonation will build up and can cause the container to expand, so when you remove the lid, it can have an explosive type of reaction. It’s best to use the drink within about ten to twenty minutes.

It’s so easy to use, just add the drink mix powder to the beverage and shake. Do not add the powder to an already carbonated beverage, use water, juice, smoothie, are best. The powder mixes quickly and it fizzes up, just like the name suggests. It’s a great refreshing energy boosting drink you will enjoy, carbonated, convenient and great flavors.

How to Make Packable Lunches

Packable lunches for kids

If you are tired of eating take out or the same store-bought sandwich or salad, the same tired microwaved rubber meal or just tired of the outrageous price you pay for a small salad everyday at work, maybe it’s time to start packing your own lunch. Chances are you are already doing it for your kids, and if not, and you think you don’t have the time, think again. It’s easy, saves money and it’s way healthier for you. Here’s some easy ways to get into the habit.

Plan Ahead:

If you don’t have any, get containers for the lunches. You can get sturdy containers with sections to add several items in one convenient package.

Plan your lunch menu, for yourself and if you have kids. Buy things you need for lunches and make anything you can ahead of time.

Packages things are handy and don’t need to be unhealthy. Single-serving packages of nuts, or trail mix are healthy and fill you up and give you energy to get through the day. Cheese and crackers,

If you set aside a day to cook some of the major dishes in advance, lasagna, casseroles, stews and hearty soups, you can portion them up, freeze them and they are ready to just take along with you.

Muffins, chopped vegetables or fruit, layered salads are easily put together the nght before. Boil up a dozen eggs and drop one in the lunch bag for an extra protein treat.

Roast a chicken or turkey and portion it out for use in salad, sandwiches, or a side snack. It’s amazing how far one will go. Making up rice, quinoa, pasta and other whole grain and filling staples will make it so much easier.
