Piedecuesta is a municipality in the Colombian department of Santander. It is located 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) east of the departmental capital Bucaramanga. According to the 2005 census, the municipality has a population of 273,315 inhabitants.
Piedecuesta was founded on February 22, 1816 by Camilo Torres Tenorio. It is bounded on the north by the municipality of Floridablanca, on the east by the municipality of Socorro, on the south by the municipality of Guadalupe and on the west by the municipality of Lebrija.
The municipality of Piedecuesta is divided into six comunas:

Comuna 3: San Vicente
Comuna 4: Guadalupe
Comuna 5: Ribera Alta
Comuna 6: Ribera Baja
The municipality has a total area of 153 square kilometres (59 sq mi) and an average altitude of 850 metres (2,790 ft).

The economy of Piedecuesta is based on agriculture, livestock, industry and tourism. The main crops are rice, maize, tobacco, coffee, beans and potatoes. There are also some manufacturing industries, such as textile, food and beverage, and chemicals.
