1.botanical gardens-The Botanical Gardens were first laid out in 1847 by the then Superintendent of the Gardens, Charles Costelloe. The Gardens, undulating amidst wooded hills, house a rich collection of plant species from the Nilgiris, India and abroad. The Botanical Gardens are administrated by the Tamil Nadu Horticulture Department and open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
2.nilgiri mountain railway-The Nilgiri Mountain Railway is a mountain railway in Tamil Nadu, India, built by the British in 1908. The railway is operated by the Tamil Nadu Railways. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The railway runs for 46 kilometers (29 mi) from Mettupalayam to Ooty. It uses a unique rack and pinion system to overcome the problem of Seven Hundred Eight Degrees , that is the difference in rail level between Mettupalayam and Ooty. The work on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway was started in 1891 and completed in 1908. The railway opened on 15 October 1908.
