Kediri is a regency located in the east of Java Province, Indonesia. The town is often called “the city of a thousand villages”. The regency has a population of 2,641,325 according to the 2010 Census. It covers an area of 2,058 square kilometers. Kediri is bounded by the Regency of Blitar to the north, the Regency of Nganjuk to the west, the Regency of Tulungagung to the south, and the Java Sea to the east.
The town is located on the Brantas River and is surrounded by rice fields. Mount Kelud is located to the north-east of the town. Kediri is known for its Sweet soy sauce and its Kerupuk (crackers).
