Ananindeua is a municipality in the state of Pará, Brazil. The city is located on the right (east) bank of the Rio Tocantins, opposite the state capital, Belém. Ananindeua is the second most populous city in the state of Pará, after Belém. The city’s population was 518,859 (2016 estimate),[1] and its area is 572 km². Ananindeua is linked to Belém by three bridges, the newest of which (Ver-o-Peso Bridge) is 3.6 kilometers in length.

The municipality contains part of the 315,373 hectares (777,860 acres) of the Discovered Equatorial Forest Reserve, created in 1953.
It also contains the 9,280 hectares (23,000 acres) Ananindeua Biological Reserve, a strictly protected conservation unit created in 1984.
The municipality contains 12.85% of the 99,265 hectares (245,950 acres) of the Altamira National Forest, created in 1953.
It is also home to the 3,900 hectares (9,700 acres) Rio Tocantins National Park, created in 1971.
