Another great home workout option – XTrain with Cathe
| February 24, 2013 | Posted by Carrie under FitFluential, fitness videos |
I’m all about the home workouts these days. Although I still love my gym membership, I tend to only hit up the gym on an early Saturday morning with my friend.
I’m always looking for something new to do at home. Between my Bootcamp workouts or my streaming videos, I like to try new things.
Each time Tina from Bootcamp sends along our new workouts, she always links the moves to an online video so that we know exactly what we’re doing. That’s the first time I was introduced to Cathe Friederich. I’d watch her clips and think of was that she was super fit and she must have the best workouts.
Of course I was super excited to get this in the mail.
XTrain with Cathe Friederich!
Wow – it was a fantastic workout. The equipment I needed and had in my house:
-
hand weights
-
a mat
-
resistance band
-
small paper cups
-
resistance tubes
What I didn’t have and was able to work around:
-
slide and glide discs
Yes, the list says ‘small paper cups’. They were used in a forward lunge move. You placed the cups on the floor, one on each side of your foot. When you lunged forward, you’d pick up the cups and on the next lunge, you’d put them back down. It was such a creative move and a way to follow through. I’ll admit I couldn’t do all the reps at that effort. Definitely something I’ll work towards.
The workout including cool down was 45 minutes. Like I said, it was great. Cathe explains the move really well. And they tell you what weights Cathe is using which is a great guideline for where to start.
My hamstrings were sore for 3 days after doing this workout for the first time. It was a great workout! I’d highly recommend picking up some of Cathe’s DVD’s or check out her Youtube channel for some great workouts!
I received a copy of this DVD at no cost through Fitfluential, LLC. All opinions are my own.

EVERYONE raves about her…I need to check her out

She is great! Coco has a great description of her – she’s unassuming and calmly motivating.
Love Cathe’s workouts. She never fails you. And you can use paperplates instead of the sliders
I have some very beat up paperplates!
Yes! I had thought to get paper plates – I think I’ll do that next time.
Awesome! I’m always looking for new workout DVDS!

I tend to love working out at home too but not DVDs that require so much equipment. Good to get a chance to try something new, though.

I’m learning to enjoy those home workouts when I just can’t get to the gym and Cathe sounds like she’s got a great series to work out with!

I am really loving Cathe these days, too! I did the same workout last week, and my butt was so sore for my run the next day.

I love Cathe’s workouts. Way back before I started running I used the regularly. I’m looking forward to trying this particular workout (it’s sitting on my coffee table waiting for me
).

I think 45 min is the perfect length for a workout! We used those sliders during her workout session at fitbloggin. Using paper plates instead is a great idea.
