What I Ate Wednesday meets 23 PAWS
If you’ve been around here on the 23rd of the last few months, you’d find the day devoted to my furry family members thanks to Cinnamon at Eat.Pray.Tri. who hosts the puppy love link up of 23 PAWS.
Cinnamon and I joked a few months ago about what we’d do if 23 PAWS fell on a Wednesday. Well, today is the day.
So – - welcome to What I ate Wednesday meets 23 PAWS. or WIAW – Puppy Edition.
Cassie doesn’t like to eat. You’d think that a dog that lived on the streets for a while wouldn’t be so particular about her food. But, she is. This happens a lot in our house.
And, when she does eat, she seriously eats one kibble at a time. It takes her FOREVER.
Petey, on the other hand, eats like a piggy. If he skipped a meal, we’d have him at the vet ASAP.
Petey likes to try to get any other food that he can. He’s a big fan of popcorn.
Dog food in our house gets pretty high status… or maybe it’s that my oatmeal is as important as the dog food. Whatever the story, I try really hard not to mix these two up.
Okay, so dogs eating isn’t really all that exciting of a WIAW. So, I’ll leave you with two random food bits.
My new oatmeal creation. I’m on a mission to increase my daily protein. So, yesterday I put whey protein into my breakfast and left out my usual peanut butter. It totally changed the consistency, but did the trick on my protein for the day and helped with the afternoon hungries.
And finally – the wishbone from our Thanksgiving Turkey has been sitting on the windowsill in my kitchen now for 2 months. It was high time the kids made a wish.
Dude got the big end. Wonder what he wished for? His birthday is tomorrow – he’s sure getting a lot of wishes lately.
Anyone else have a dog that’s a picky eater? Who remembers breaking the Thanksgiving wishbone?
I love adding whey to the oats too.
choc makes for an awesome concoct!

I’ve now decided that the chocolate whey needs a banana to finish it off. YUM!!!
I wish I could eat oatmeal, I just can’t do it. I think it’s the consistency. So the question is, does Petey try to eat Cassie’s food?:)

Oh yes he does! Someone has to supervise meal times. Cassie does a lot of snarling at Petey and not a lot of eating. He does get it sometimes and when he does get it, she lets him. She’s so lame.
My dogs LOVE popcorn too. Any time we have it they just stare and give us those big sad eyes until we give them pieces. We are such suckers.

I totally give in to the sad eyes on the popcorn. Petey loves it.
I’ve been having chocolate protein oats while away from home! So good and so quick

It’s hilarious that even though Cassie was homeless for a while, now she’s a picky eater. Ha – I love dogs!
I do wonder how she survived. She’s my poster child for intuitive eating.
I had a bichon when I was little. I got to name him when I was 5 years old and in the middle of July of course i would name him snowball. They are great dogs! I wish I could give Bentley more people foods but always worry about his allergies.

Petey is allergic to all kinds of things. Hmmm, but popcorn never showed up on the list… I hope it’s not bad for him. He only gets a few kernels, so maybe it’s okay.
Why can’t you do the whey AND the PB??
I think I could use some more protein in my diet too…..perhaps I’ll add eggs to mine tomorrow!

I try to keep my breakfast under 400 calories and doing both puts me over that. Eggs are a good addition. Yum!
Too funny! Our wishbone has also been sitting on the windowsill since Thanksgiving and hubby and I just broke it yesterday!!! He won.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who looked at their wishbone for 2 months and didn’t do anything about it.
What a cute post! I love doggie day and not a huge fan of WIAW so loved this one!
I like protein powder in oats… I always make my oats a bit wetter, and then stir in the protein powder when I take the pan off the stove. Love it. And cottage cheese is another good protein/oat option too.
Cottage cheese is a great idea. I need to get some. Now that I’m using protein powder, I am making them a little wetter and I’m loving them.
I add whey protein to my oats all the time – love – & so many ways to add it to other stuff too!
