What I Ate Wednesday

Hello Wednesday! Just a few What I Ate Wednesday eats to share this week.
First, after our fun Stand Up Paddle Board outing, we went out to lunch. We of course hit up a place that served breakfast since that’s what I always want to eat. For the first time ever, I liked my husband’s meal better than my own.
I ordered the chocolate french toast. It was basically chocolate cake. I did eat a piece and a half before feeling like I had overdosed on sugar. MMT had ordered a french toast sandwich with fried eggs and local sausage. That was yummy! Note to self: don’t go for the chocolate.
The restaurant, 26 Beach is also known for its Watermelon drinks. Yummy!
Since Jenn’s August WIAW theme is Summer Staples, let’s get to a few of my summer favorites. First – frozen grapes. I bought grapes at the store the other day and froze them all.
Another summer staple: Lemonade Stand. Must have fresh baked cookies for the lemonade stand that my kids did with some friends on Monday. Back of the bag of Nestle’s Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe makes the best cookies.
Summer Staple #3: movies! We had a coupon for a free soft drink at the movies yesterday. We ordered a small fruit punch for the kids to share. I have never seen such a large small drink EVER! What’s the point? Why is a small drink large enough for 5 people? Sorry the picture doesn’t do it justice – it was the size of a bath tub.
On a healthier note – some summer fruits from my CSA box yesterday. I am totally looking forward to putting those fresh blueberries in my oatmeal this morning.
And finally, my lunch from yesterday – so very exciting – - Homemade almond butter and blackberry jam sandwich with the final bit of CSA carrots from my last box.
Go check out Jenn’s blog hop and wish her congratulations as her husband just returned from serving 7 months in Afghanistan. Welcome home!!
Are you shocked by the size of movie theater drinks? Ever done a lemonade stand as a kid? Liked your dining companions food better than your own?

I have the hardest time making up my mind at restaurants and always want to try what everyone else has.
So many goodies in your CSA box, enjoy!

I just made salsa with some of my CSA veggies – Can’t wait for taco dinner.
Is it true that movie popcorn is a narcotic? If not, it should be; addicting doesn’t even begin to describe it. Give me a giant tub and a 2 hour movie, and I wont have any popcorn left for the second half of the movie.

I think it should be too. I was able to eat it in moderation because I was sharing with two 9 year old boys who would have had my head if I’d eaten it all. I used to be a big fan of the ‘butter’ that you put on top. But, I tried it again a few years ago and it made me nauseous. Ick.
YES! I did a lemonade stand once and I think we made like $24. i was seriously so proud! chocolate french toast sounds like it would be my favorite thing ever:):) haha!

People are rather generous I think – the kids were selling lemonade and cookies each for 25 cents – they made $25 and are so happy with their $6.25 each. My husband was trying to convince them that they needed to repay me for their supplies. Such a fun summer thing to do.
Oh my, those choco french toast sure look amazing!

Chocolate french toast. Yummy! I’m shocked by most things at movie concessions…the “butter”, sizes, costs…

Your comment makes me curious – I think I need to find out the ingredients in the “butter”.
Back of the bag choc chip cookies are the best!! There is an episode of Friends where Pheobe says that her grandmother got her “special” recipe from someone named Nelslie Tulhaus and that they are the best ever… Have you seen that one?!

Loved that episode of Friends. I think of it every time we pull out the recipe.
