Traveling – Getting to know you
Hello everyone! Happy Monday! We are on vacation this week! We are houseboating with some friends and have no internet access either. I know, crazy!
I do have things planned for my blog for the week, so you won’t think I’ve gone missing. Stay tuned for some Disney fun, a product review and some guest bloggers.
To start off the week, I thought it would be fun to do a meme about traveling. I found this one on Squidoo.com (check it out if you have writer’s block).
How old were you when you first travelled?
We took some small family trips when I was younger (most of them revolved around dog shows), but I remember my first big trip being Hawaii when I was 8.
What is your favourite form of travelling: car, bus, train, or plane?
I enjoy car traveling because it’s so easy to pack and go. I like the flexibility of stopping when necessary and I love reading maps. But, plane travel is a boring requirement for far off adventures.
Where did you go on your first road trip?
When I was younger, we would travel yearly to Oregon for a dog show circuit. That was in our motorhome. In college, I made a few road trips with friends (mainly to San Fransisco for the USC v. Cal or Stanford football games) and those were really fun and memorable.
Where did you go on your first bus ride?
I remember my first big ‘traveling’ bus ride being when I was in college. I went to visit my best friend in Syracuse and we took a bus to New York City. I remember most of it being at night and not so super memorable or fun.
Where did you go on your first train ride?
I went to Japan when I was a freshman in high school and we took the bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto. That was awesome!
Where did you go on your first plane ride?
I think my first plane ride was to San Francisco from LA. Not too exciting, but I remember going up there frequently as a kid.
Motion sickness? Treatment of choice?
Not really. I’ve been queasy a few times but usually in a car. I find that if I’m in a farming area, I’ll look out the window at the rows of crops going by and the pattern of it all calms me down. I’ve been on a few rough boat rides, but not been sick.
Where would you like to go that you haven’t been?
So many places. So little time and money. My top three places:
* New England in the fall
Where would you like to go back to?
I would love to go back to Italy and France with my husband and my family.
Traveling alone or with someone?
I would prefer to travel with another person or two. Or just my family. Traveling with more than just my immediate family is complicated and not always enjoyable.
Your ultimate traveling dream?
Travel first class across Europe – planes, trains and hotels.
Please share some of your favorite travel stories – or feel free to answer these fun questions on your blog.
See you live next week!
