Three Things Thursday – Veggies, iCloud & Speed
Three Things Thursday
1. Random final veggie garden harvest: look how huge these cucumbers are. I think we kind of forgot about them, they don’t all look well grown, we’ll see if they taste good. Cucumbers and onions were a success this season. The watermelons and the corn didn’t grow very well. We have nothing planted at the moment – bad gardeners. There are some herbs. Maybe this is a project for this weekend.
2. I was about to rave about the cool new iCloud feature of the iPhone. It will automatically sync your calendar, contacts, pictures and documents between your devices. The cool thing is that if I take a picture on my iPhone, it’ll automatically be on my computer. I used to have to email each one to myself in order to get it up on my blog. I say “I was about to rave” because that cucumber picture above – - well, it didn’t show up on my photo stream. Weird. So, iCloud has the potential to be cool for my blogging, if only I could figure out how to push the sync. I took the picture last night – not sure what happened. (edited to say: I figured out the problem – I had turned Wi-Fi off – it must be on to sync iCloud – so now I’ll give iCloud an official 2 thumbs up).
3. On the training plan today is a speed workout. I haven’t done a speed workout in seemingly forever. I think all my aches and pains are healthy enough to push things a little. The plan calls for 2 one mile repeats at about 30 seconds faster than race pace with 1/2 mile recovery in between – with a 4 mile total distance. I’m contemplating getting the run in outside (I usually do speed on a treadmill so I can maintain my pace) – mainly because today is the Great California Shakeout (a statewide earthquake drill) and it’s supposed to happen right when I’m at the gym and I don’t want it to mess me up.
Anyone else participating in the Great California Shakeout? Both my kids’ schools and MMT’s schools have drills going.
What’s your favorite speed workout? Repeats? Tempo runs?
