Some of my blogger friends were chatting the other day about having a link up of “A Day in the Life” – a little fun to the week – we are all sharing a little play-by-play of our days. I did do one of these back in 2013, it’s fun to see how things have changed […] more
So – – let’s see – this was Monday about a week ago.
5:01AM – my alarm goes off (yes, it’s 5:01 – that extra minute counts)
5:05 – get out of bed – grab some water and a cracker. Go downstairs and set up my yoga mat.
5:10-5:35 – exercise – that day I did weights – arms, squats, planks, my modified mountain climbers (stupid toe that doesn’t bend – but I can do a little) – and yes, I wear my pj pants when I workout… working out at home has its advantages.
5:35-5:50 – drink coffee, read some blogs
5:50 – 6:30 – shower, get dressed
6:30 – 7:00 – wake kids, make lunches, feed dog #1, multiple trips up and down stairs, load car, sometimes start a load of laundry
7:00 – eat breakfast – sit for 5 minutes – feed 2nd dog because she needs supervision.
7:15 – final roundup of kids and hustle to get dressed and out the door
7:20 – out the door
7:50 – arrive at work – do the work thing… lunch break in there – since it’s Monday, I went to Fresh & Easy across the street for grocery shopping – got something for Monday dinner. Other days I’ll stay in the office and read blogs or write. Maybe once a week, I’ll meet a friend for lunch.
My favorite Fresh & Easy – they’ve got a great pre-prepped refrigerated section – it’s a lifesaver.
Whenever I do grocery shopping at lunch, I have to leave myself a note so that I don’t then leave the groceries at work Been there, done that.
5:40 – get home – family is already there (yay for my husband that does evening pick ups) – make dinner.
6:15ish – eat dinner – Monday is one of the few nights that we do get to have dinner together – we had french toast and chicken sausages – incidentally, I’m not sure what I did, but the french toast wasn’t so good. The chicken sausages from Fresh & Easy were yummy.
7:00 – drive carpool of dance girls to their acro class – then make a last minute trip to Party City because Dancing Girl needed long white gloves for *tomorrow* – of course told to me at 6pm *today*. Their first competition was that weekend and of course it was needed for 7AM Tuesday practice.
7:30-9:00 – relax – more like do some prep for Tuesday’s crock pot dinner, wash dishes, fold laundry, answer personal emails, clean up something – ha ha, relax? did I really think that?
cutting up and bagging veggies to go in the crockpot the next morning
9:00 – get Dude to bed and seriously contemplate going to bed myself.
9:30 – make oatmeal for my breakfast and put out Dude’s breakfast.
9:45 – DONE!
Friday and an occasional Tuesday morning is more entertaining with a 6:40AM drive to take Dancing Girl to before school dance practice, which means I don’t have time to workout before going to work. My New Year’s Resolution is to use the office gym at lunch on Fridays, which I’ve now done for the last two weeks. Yay me! On Tuesdays when I don’t have to drive her early, I meet a few ladies from my running group for a dark o’clock run which makes my day awesome.
And Monday is the quietest day of the week in the evenings – the rest of the week includes multiple sports and driving and kid activities and meetings and all of that. Usually that means I don’t do any of that pretend relaxing. That time is spent in my car.
Although I’m realizing that I have the best conversations with my kids when we are in the car. Captive audience and all that. Make the best of the situation, right?
So, that’s the day. My mornings are very well orchestrated to get us all up and out the door on time. My husband leaves the house even earlier and we’ve got it down to such a routine now that it’s all good.
I tend to laugh that I get up at 5AM to leave my house at 7:20.
Although over winter break, when my husband and kids were all on vacation, I was able to shift my whole schedule back by 1/2 hour – it was a little mini vacation for me.
Okay – your turn – link up here and go visit some other bloggers who are joining in!
