Spending time with friends
We are home! It was a super fun and adventurous vacation. A lot of new experiences, locations and new and old friends.
A quick thank you to Laura & Elle for their guest posts while I was gone. Go check them out if you missed them. And you can offer up congrats to Laura who completed her first triathlon yesterday!
I also want to send out a huge congratulations to Christie at My Dirt Road Anthem who completed her first marathon last weekend. Great job Christie!!!
Back to vacation: most of the week was spent on a houseboat in Lake Powell with my friend and her family. This friend and I have been friends since Kindergarten. We live on opposite coasts now, but we have stayed in touch and our kids are close in age.
Just a sample of the amazing scenery from Lake Powell.
More on the week when I have a chance to go through pictures and share more details, but for now I’m just reminiscing about spending time with friends.
After being on the houseboat, we drove to Scottsdale, AZ where my sorority sisters were gathered for a reunion. I was only able to join in for the Saturday night dinner, but it was great to see everyone.
It was so amazing to catch up with these ladies. As a group we’ve talked about the friendships that we formed and how important they are. The stinky part is that so many of us live pretty close to each other and yet we don’t see each other very often. We say this every time we get together, and yet then we go months and even years without seeing each other. It’s not enough to just keep in touch through Facebook.
Good workout news – - one of my college friends is a police officer in a neighboring city. She does her own cross-fit type workout at the station on her lunch breaks and I think I’m going to start working out with her (she works right near my school). I’ve really been learning a lot about cross fit and it just seems like a really challenging way to workout and a good fit for me right now. And, then I get to keep in touch with my friend.
And good school news – - anyone else have friends whose lives just seem to be so parallel to your own? Well, another friend (who reads my blog – - waving hi!!) and I got to reconnect and our lives are yet again running parallel. She’s recently started going back to school to get a nursing degree – we compared the similarities of our programs and consoled each other over the difficulties of memorizing chemistry. There’s a small chance she may relocate and finish her nursing program at the same school that I’m going to! Yay!
Okay, so this is a bit rambly-mess of a post. I’ll blame it on my travels. I’m looking forward to getting back to the routine of being home. Working out, eating better, drinking more water. While it was an active vacation with lots of water sports, there was also a lot of sitting in cars and definitely not enough water consumption. I also ate a whole lot more bread products than I usually do and a whole lot less fruits and veggies. I’m feeling the effects… Ick.
I will slowly be catching up on blogs – - I did get to do a fair amount of reading (no commenting) on my phone when MMT was driving.
Bet you aren’t jealous of the huge pile of laundry (that I made a big dent in yesterday).
Do you keep in touch with childhood and/or college friends?
im so glad you all enjoyed a wonderful vacation! you really visited some of the most gorgeous areas:)

Welcome back! So glad you had a good time. I do have some childhood and college friends I keep in touch with– it’s been whittled down over the years, but the remaining few I hope will last for decades!
Thank you for the support! Also, I’m excited to hear more about your cross fit-like workouts. I’m thinking about mixing up my weights workouts as well.
What a wonderful world wind of a vacation!
I’m jealous of your cross fit opportunity, but not the laundry as I just put in my last load of the day. Ugh! I’m hoping to try out cross fit next year.
Beautiful photos.

Those vacation pictures are phenomenal! The pile of laundry the exception of course
I keep in touch with some friends from school years, much easier these days with social media. Of course nothing replaces face to face when it comes to staying in touch.

I’m glad you had such a nice vacation. I keep in touch with a few highschool friends but really only one college friend. I was too busy memorizing chemistry (and seeing my now-husband on the weekends)!

Thank you! Thankfully I conquered that laundry pile pretty quickly.
