I’d rather be blogging and my 5K race recap
As much as I’d love to be able to go to work, take care of my family, get in some exercise and then spend the rest of my time online, there seems to be a billion other things getting in the way. Laundry, helping kids write speeches, all the school volunteer stuff (my grand plan of how my volunteer activities don’t overlap so much is biting me in the butt right now) more laundry, dishes, bills to pay, house to clean. Ugh. I’d rather be blogging – it’s so much more fun.
I’m so happy that I’m doing Best Body Bootcamp again. I don’t know if I’d have the energy to think of a workout at the end of my busy days. It’s like having a running training plan, I just look at a schedule and go.
I will say that I’ve been shortening them a bit to make them work. Workouts that call for a strength routine and cardio are usually just strength for me. I do cardio on the non-strength days so I am typically getting in 6 good workouts a week.
AND… my gym buddy noticed this past weekend that my arms are getting more toned. We were doing the elliptical machine with the arms and she said that my arms have no flab and look great. How awesome to have someone notice!
Now that we’re at the halfway point of bootcamp, I took my measurements and found that there are small losses all around. Especially my butt and thighs! Yippee!!!
I ran my local Super Bowl 5K this past weekend and had a great time. Not sure how exciting of a recap it will be, but my race is also part of Laura’s 5 by the 5th and Jill and Jen’s 13 in 2013. I didn’t have much of a plan for the race, but started with the same 1:00 run/ 1:30 walk that I’ve been doing lately. I quickly decided to swap and do 1:30 run / 1:00 walk. About halfway through the race, I looked at my average pace that was hovering right around 12:00/mi and decided my goal for the rest of the race would be to make sure that ended in the 11:xx range.
And I did! So I was very happy with the day.
Some scenes from a fun race…
The group that ran as peanuts with a leader dressed as an elephant.
These guys looked like a high school track team all connected together.
Then we stalked the leader of the 10K at mile 2 as I love watching fast runners. Nice form, huh? He was kicking butt right from the start.
Hope everyone is having a great week!
Awesome job on your 5k, Carrie! And yay for seeing progress and more toned arms! I know what you mean about blogging… wish there was more time in the day.

having someone compliment your arms is all the motivation to continue doing your bootcamp for even more results!
