Pre-Workout Food

Today’s Blogger Challenge Topic – What is your pre-workout food?
I spent way too much time hunting down pictures for this post. And, I didn’t even find the pictures I was looking for. Fail.
Every morning starts with a cup of coffee, no matter when my workout is planned. However, I couldn’t find a coffee picture – this one is tea, but you get the idea.
Preworkout food is ideally a banana with Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter.
But, frequently I’m out of bananas. So, I have some sort of nut butter on toast.
This is almond butter on toast…
Or the Dark Chocolate Dreams PB on toast.
I’ll also do Sunflower Butter on crackers.
I’m not sure I’m surprised that looking through all my pictures, I was able to find almost hundreds of post-workout pictures of pancakes. Honestly, pre-workout, I’m just trying to put something well balanced, easy to digest and quick into my body. It’s never very memorable, just useful.
What do you eat pre-workout? Do you look forward to the post-workout meal more than the pre?

Dark chocolate peanut butter sounds amazing! I like to keep my meal small before a workout and stick with eggs or fruit!

I’ve been craving eggs these past few days. Your pre-workout food sounds good to me.
Chocolate peanut butter on a banana? SHEER GENIUS!! I’m definitely trying that. Your pre-run snacks are similar to mine. I also often do a bowl of cereal with whole milk, or a spoon of peanut butter with chocolate chips on it. Or, a handful of mixed nuts and chocolate chips. Most of my pre-workout snacks consist of chocolate in some form.

Love that you have chocolate pre-workout. That’d be a great motivation.
I’m often confused as just how soon before a workout I should eat. Sometimes I do not if I don’t feel hungry, assuming workout or not if I’m not feeling hungry I’m good to go; perhaps a bad assumption.
I think listening to your body is always a good idea. If you’re not hungry and your workout isn’t a 2 hour bike ride, it’s probably fine.
I know it’s not the best idea, but I don’t eat before I work out, if it’s in the morning I just do it. If I work out later in the day then it’s just whatever I’ve eaten. If I’m running a race I’ll have a Clif Shot Blok, but besides that I just can’t bring myself to eat before.

I think if your workouts are not too long or intense it’s okay to not eat. And also, it seems to be working for you, so it must not be too wrong.
That dark chocolate dreams PB looks good!
I usually try to work out in the a.m. in which case I eat either oatmeal with fruit or cheerios with fruit. Otherwise, I try to run right before dinner, so my pre workout food would be whatever I had for lunch, plus I will eat an apple about 30 minutes before my run.

I can’t do fruit before an afternoon run. I usually have to have toast or crackers or something. I tried yogurt once, that was a huge fail.
