The weather around here has been amazing. While it’s super cold and I hate that part, it makes for gorgeous views. Look at the cover of Saturday’s LA Times. Get enough wind to blow away the smog, add in some rain to drop snow in the mountains and it equals a beautiful picture. Snow and surf – love it.
It was still cold yesterday, there was frost on my grass in the morning.
I spent some time on Friday doing some shoe shopping. I brought home these pretty guys.
I used to run in the Saucony Pro Grid Rides and then went to the Brooks Glycerins. The Saucony’s felt awesome and I couldn’t really remember why I switched. I think it was when I was getting into longer distances and I wanted more toe box room. But, since I’m not running those distances these days, I think the Sauconys will be great. I got the Reeboks for cross training. I really like the feel of them. And I love the gray and purple.
I was totally looking forward to breaking in the Sauconys with a run yesterday. But then sometime in the morning, my hip started to hurt a lot. I didn’t do anything to trigger it. I was just walking along. Grrrr. So, no workout yesterday. Unless you count following my daughter around at the mall for 3 hours while we shopped. I’m sure I looked like a fool massaging my left hip/but/adducter (not really sure what’s hurting). But, it was starting to feel a bit better by the end of the day.
I’m not sure what I did. The only thing I can think of is that I struggled a little bit with a move I was doing as part of my Bootcamp workout on Friday. It was a slow stationary lunge. I didn’t think I was doing them with great form, so I tried to not go too deep into the move. But maybe that was it.
So, I didn’t get to try out my new shoes. My hip/adductor/whatever is a bit sore this morning, but not painful. So that’s good. I’ll get in my bootcamp workout today, but modify a few moves to be safe.
Anyone bought new shoes lately? What’d cha get? Do shoe colors matter?
Oh no! I have to deal with that same pain. It reallllly hurts sometimes. I have found, personally, that the best thing to do it really stretch your hips well and make sure you are strengthening them. If I haven’t done any work on them in a while they feel worse before they get better….but it’s always worth it in the end. Laura @ RunningJunkie123 recently posted..Cabin Fever
I hope your hip feels better:) I love getting new shoes, so fun! And yes, color matters:) I just got a couple pairs of Nikes, they are both hot pink. I wouldn’t run in them, but they are fun for walking around or cross training. hikermom recently posted..You’re Amazing!
No new shoes for me. Yours are cute though. I’m glad I’m not the only one with achy hips. Sorry that sounds mean. I just rarely hear anyone mention it.
Not mean at all. I’ve started doing the upside down pigeon pose a little bit and it feels really good. They’re a little sore today, but I think the stretching is helping.
I desperately need new shoes! My right IT band is a little angry today, and I think it’s a combo of shoes at the end of their cycle, and the concrete 26 miles… I wish Houston had more macadam! I almost bought shoes at the expo, but knew I needed more time to decide what I want… hoping to get more this week. Love yours! Hope your hip is nothing serious and let’s you try them out soon! Shoe colors don’t really matter, but I don’t really like black ones. So I guess the color kind of matters. But I usually just get whichever ones I can find a good deal on, regardless of the color. Travel Spot recently posted..2013 Race Calendar

Thank you for the stretching reminder. I’ve been doing that upside down pigeon pose and it feels really good.

I’m loving the color of the Reeboks. Not sure if I’ve had grey shoes before, but I love them. And my hip is feeling better, thank you.

Lucky duck with the weather! It’s not even going to hit 30 here. Brrr!

Expo purchases are hard, but I agree that shoes need time. Congratulations again!
I hope you feel better soon! I love your new shoes, Sauconys are the best!

I finally got to take them for a run and they were awesome. I’m so glad I went back to Sauconys.

I don’t like black running/workout shoes either. I do go for comfort first, but it doesn’t hurt if they’re fun colors.
