Monday Goal Setting

This being Monday I thought I’d set out some goals for the week. I’ve been diligently resting my hip this past week, so I haven’t exercised. I’m really excited to get back to the gym today.
Since I apparently can’t count, my 8 week 10K training actually starts today. A wise person on Twitter last week said it’s good to have an extra week cushion in my training in case of injury. That was definitely the case for me. So, I’m starting over today. As of this morning, I really have no pain so I’m going to take it slow. Today’s workout is 3 miles and strength training. I’m going to get the miles at an easy pace.
Now on to the rest of the goals:
- Keep on my training program
- Snack smarter
- I’ve got 2 social events this week, so my goal is to drink lots of water and to be mindful of my hunger levels while at the first event.
- The 2nd event is ours, so my goal is to enjoy the company and the yummy food that I’m making in a moderate quantity. I’m making my famous latkes for 70+ people, so I will enjoy them.
Mmmm. Latkes in the frying pan. An annual indulgence indeed.
On the snacking front, I’ve been finding myself drawn to all the kids snacky foods lately. My goal for the week is to work on making those snacks of produce instead. I don’t think it’s gone overboard, but it’s starting to creep into a bad habit and I want to refocus.
Another wise friend of mine suggested I go to a specialty running store to talk about my shoes. I went the other day and had an interesting discussion about over-stabilization. I have to bring my shoes back (cuz I’m a dork and didn’t bring them the first time around), but I’m actually thinking I’ve had the wrong shoes on when I’m *not* running. I went out on Saturday and bought new walking shoes and wore them yesterday at Disneyland pain free.
I will get back to the running store today with my shoes and see what they have to say.
Happy Monday! This is the last week of school for everyone in my house, so we’re on to some vacation time. And it’s teacher conference week, so my kids are out early every day. Yay.
