Lozilu Mud Run Recap

This past weekend I joined up with some friends at the Rose Bowl to play in the mud. It was the Lozilu Mud Run. My blogger friend (and Ragnar Teammate) Melissa from the Valentine RD had put together a team to run and I joined in on the fun.
This was my 2nd mud run, the first being about a year ago when I did another one with my other blogger friend Melissa. After running that event, I put together a list of 6 Tips for Running a Mud run – and I followed my own advice this time around and had a great time.
Our group before the run. We were pretty clean!
This was Lozilu’s first event of a national tour. There were definitely some hiccups to the day, but overall it was a great event and a lot of fun. I was especially impressed by the amazing women who turned out for the event. It was a group of supportive and fun people. Lots of encouragement and cheering each other on. We were taking pictures of other teams and enjoying all the costumes. You’ll see in the pictures that women did a lot of helping over obstacles – it was a super fun event.
The run got off to an on time start, which was a definite highlight for a first time event. Great job!
We started by running through the stadium, that was fun.
After our first dip in the mud, we paused for a picture. It didn’t feel as icky as it looked.
There were plenty of challenging obstacles on the course. This one was kind of a mind game. Of course, Melissa stopped to ham it up on her way down the last ramp. I had some momentum going down the ramp and was thankful that I stayed on :-).
I was proud of myself for trying the tall sections of the walls and for navigating that balance beam without falling off. It was definitely confidence boosting to tackle obstacles successfully. I almost took the easy route on the first wall and was glad I didn’t.
Good to know that when I’m asked to pose for a picture, I make the exact same pose. Every. Time.
Post run – looking pretty dirty!
Lots of smiles – we had a great time.
And it was fun to get a nice medal for doing a 5K. Thanks Lozilu!
