It’s a Jungle Out There

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. We had a nice one. I think I’m better and we enjoyed a nice family weekend including some time with friends, a movie and a local street fair. (quick sicky update: no more back pain, today is the last day of my meds, my stomach is still not happy, but I’m getting by)
I tackled my jungle of a garden this weekend. I did the gardening over two days, it was sure exhausting. No, I don’t know how to take things easy. Here’s how the jungle looked at first.
This was the end of day 1. That’s the overgrown mint left in the back corner. By the end of Monday, it was gone. The kids came up with several things they’d like to plant. Hopefully by next weekend we’ll get everything in. Maybe this time we’ll even keep it going nicely and not let it turn into a jungle. I’ve decided we have pretty terrible dirt around here, so I may try to dig it out and start with some better stuff.
I really love having a garden in our yard. But, I’m really bad at keeping it going. I always have the best of intentions. Here was my attempt at growing some of my own seeds.
At least outside, my garden has automatic sprinklers.
Thankfully, I’m going to my local courthouse. I’ve got a new book loaded on my Kindle and am ready to do some more sitting on my butt. Please keep your fingers crossed that I don’t get selected to a jury. While I really don’t mind serving, it’s just endlessly complicated to juggle being a mom and doing my civic duties.
How are your gardening skills? Do you have a green thumb? Any advice for terrible dirt?
