I love cereal

Really, I do. So, nutritionally it’s not the greatest, but at least I’m not addicted to the super sugary stuff. My favorites at the moment are Kix and Cinnamon Life.
I’ve got a little bit of a love-hate thing with cereal. It’s probably never ever a meal, it’s a snack food in my book. It also becomes the thing that I eat too much of. I’d like to say that I always eat an appropriate serving size. But I don’t. Maybe that’s why I tend to want to eat Kix more than any other. I know that a serving size is a full cup and that’s it’s got reasonable nutritional stats.
I also love Fiber One. I really love to mix it into a cup of Chobani yogurt. It’s almost as good as Yogurtland
and many of you know how much I love Yogurtland. I’ve actually tried a few sugary cereals in my yogurt, but I really can’t taste the difference, so I’ll stick with the low-calorie, fiber loaded Fiber One and call it a healthy snack.
Yesterday, I had a snack of Special K Berries. YUM!! I was on a Chocolate Cheerios kick for a while, too.
The downside is that cereal is super easy to go overboard on. I really really try to serve a portion and walk away. But, there are the times that I grab the whole box. Damn. Sometimes I think maybe I shouldn’t keep so many cereal options in the house, but then again, I love cereal – so it’s not going anywhere.
In other cooking news, I made black beans from scratch the other day. No one else in my house will eat them, but I wanted to try. I soaked them overnight and then simmered them for 2 hours. I then made this yummy dinner.
It was filling at the time. But, I was hungry a few hours later so I had a yogurt with Fiber One. (I always dream about taking gorgeous pictures – but that’s just not going to happen, so you’ll have to bear with me)
Do you love cereal? What’s your favorite? Do you eat it as a snack or a meal?
And, don’t forget to vote! Thank you all for being so supportive of my little blog here.

I. Love. Cereal.
Cocoa pebbles. Guilty.

Have you seen the new “fruit loops” flavor of Cheerios? My kids picked them out at the grocery store yesterday after being wooed by a commercial. Those Mad Men sure know how to target an audience.
Yay for beans made from scratch. I love doing that, then I package them in one cup servings in snack-size ziplocks and freeze them. Then I use them for EVERYTHING. So cheap and easy.
I must have 5 boxes of cereal open right now. My guilty pleasure? Cinnamon Toast Crunch. LOVE it.
Cereal is my downfall. Honey Bunches of Oats is my crack.
