Halloween Observations

A few Halloween observations from yesterday – -
Halloween through the eyes of a 3 year old is entirely different than through the eyes of a 9 1/2 and 12 year old. After spending the morning yesterday at Dude’s elementary school and finding myself rather uninterested in watching another parade of costumed children, we then went trick-or-treating with friends who have a 3 year old.
Watching the 3 year old and her pre-school friends in their adorable costumes (Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, a unicorn, a firefighter, etc) and comparing their delight to the crowd of 9 year olds that were all either zombie/undead people or soldiers/violent characters. The difference between the two groups was rather obvious. I loved just watching the little ones and their excitement.

This was the first year that my kids went trick or treating with their friends only. No parents! Yikes! They had a great time:) I stayed home to hand out candy.

Dancing Girl went alone with her friends. Although they started and finished at our house, so I didn’t feel totally left out. I don’t have too much longer with Dude.
Our Halloween was cold and rainy. For the first time my son just stayed home. My daughter costumed in her favorite footie pjs and cat makeup joined her other 13 year old friends. It’s so different with teens

Cute – footie pj’s into a costume. Warm and cozy. Yes, teens are so different in so many ways. I may need to borrow 3-5 year olds each year. Only for Halloween
