Hi, I’m Petey. I want to thank my person for giving me the chance to talk to you all today. I think I’m the favorite child in the house, so of course she’d want to let me talk.
I wanted to tell you about what I got to do last night. My family took me to this big place where I got to meet lots and lots of dogs. Something about ‘Barking in a Park”, but I didn’t really see a park. Only lots of people and dogs. Some of them were dressed really funny. I’m not sure why some were blue and others were wearing sunglasses.
One Great Dane was spraypainted with the letters “Dodgers”. But, I can’t read, so I don’t know what that meant.
We got to go for a walk at one point. I saw this beautiful grass and kept trying to get on it, but there were people standing there and making sure we stayed on the dirt.
Doesn’t that grass just look like it would be fun to run on?
Then came the boring part. We went and sat in some seats. My people ate all kinds of yummy food. Hot dogs, popcorn, peanuts. I saw the boy eat some fluffy colorful stuff that I was told would stick to me. Why couldn’t they have let me try? All I got was a few measly pieces of popcorn.
All the dogs around us were boring. They took naps. I didn’t. I didn’t want to miss a thing. Not one single minute. I watched everything.
You never knew if that guy next to me was going to give me his food.
Every once in a while, the people would cheer. But a grown up said that whatever we were there for wasn’t going well. My kids tried to start some sort of game where everyone would stand up and wave their arms. That seemed to be fun for them, I couldn’t really help out.
There was some guy there that everyone was talking to. He wrote his name on the annoying thing my people tied around my neck. Why do my people tie things around my neck?
Now my people are telling me that I’m dirty. What did they think? I’m white – there was dirt – I brought it home. At least that place I go to get a bath has lots of dogs to play with. That’s always fun.
But, a hot dog would have been nice, too.
Do my feet look dirty to you?
Oh, and my person wants me to remind you to go vote! Thanks!
