The Great Deodorant Experiment

The great deodorant experiment continues. I’m now on #5. I thought I had a winner. Trader Joe’s Unscented Deodorant. On one hand, it works pretty well as a deodorant. I never feel like I smell, so it does deal with odors. On the other hand, I still sweat. So, it’s definitely not an anti-persperant. On the good side, it doesn’t have any metals or any of the bad stuff that I’m trying to avoid. On the bad side, pit sweat.
I didn’t think the pit sweat was that big of a problem until I went to a USC football game a few weekends ago. There was a period of hot temperatures and I noticed the pit sweat when I looked in the mirror in the bathroom. Okay, so not the end of the world, but definitely not ideal. I haven’t noticed substantial pit sweat on other occasions, but I still don’t think that’s socially acceptable enough to warrant trusting the TJ’s brand as a stand alone option. Maybe if I only use the metallic laden stuff occasionally, I’ll still cut down on my exposure, right?
Here’s the lineup of what I’ve tried so far.
Toms is ok. I think the Toms lasts longer than the Trader Joe’s Cotton stuff. The Lafes ranks behind the Trader Joe’s brand. The green top and the Alloy are the two Mellaleuca brands that have aluminum in them, so I’m not using those. I think that’s about all I’m willing to buy for now. I’ll be sticking with the Tom’s and the TJ’s brand for now. Actually, if I just reapply a little more often, then it’ll probably be fine. I think I’ll try that.
Disclaimer: There is nothing sponsored or anything about my deodorant experiment. I’ve bought these all with my own money and have no affiliation with any of the manufacturers. I’m just looking for a natural deodorant that works, doesn’t cost a lot and doesn’t have metals in it. Why is that so hard?
