Three Things Thursday: Giving up chewing gum

I love Three Things Thursday to share a few random thoughts going through my head:
1. I’m giving up chewing gum. I chew a lot of gum – my favorite being Stride. I go through at least 2 packs of gum in my short work week. I sit at my desk for a lot of hours at work and I’ve always felt that the gum keeps me busy. I also just hate having stale food taste in my mouth. But, I’ve been reading a lot about bad side effects of gum and all the icky chemicals in gum, so I’m quitting gum. I’ve got two flavors of Altoids sitting on my desk now to help with stale food taste. All natural ingredients in case you’re wondering and 2g of sugar for 3 mints. I’m trying to keep myself to 6 or less per day or that’ll just be another bad habit to break. Sometimes I think I get a little overboard on my quest to cut chemicals from my life, and as my husband says, “what’s left?”, but I think this is an easy one.
2. My dog never fails to crack me up. He wakes in the dark with me, comes downstairs and goes back to sleep on the couch (curled up on a blanket) to hang out with me while I workout. When I’m done with my workout, I usually sit with my tablet and read blogs for a bit while I drink my coffee. He gets up from one sleeping spot to follow me to the living room and go back to sleep in that room. Then, when I go shower and start to get ready for the day, it’s like he’s made too many moves and he stays in the room alone. I’m not sure why this cracks me up. And this face (schmutz and all):
3. Yoga – My new workout plan calls for fewer days of cardio than I would normally do – I’m aiming for 2-3 strength workouts and 1-2 days of cardio. So, yesterday I pulled the yoga workout back out. Ouch – tight hamstrings! And an excellent reminder about how much I enjoy yoga. I found some renewed strength to push a little harder in a few of the more challenging for me poses – like the boat pose and the one legged bridge. I’m doing a short yoga practice, but it felt good and I need to keep in in my schedule at least twice a week.
Bonus: I’m having issues with my watermark program – it was so nice to upload a regular picture and have the plug in just add the watermark. But, I’ve been having picture issues lately and now that I disabled that plug-in, the upload is working well. Guess I have to use an app before I upload. Not that my pictures are so amazing that someone searches them out to steal them
