Foodie Pen Pals – August

Hello Foodie Pen Pals Fans! A huge thank you to Lindsay at The Lean Green Bean for putting together this amazing program. Did you know that Foodie Pen Pals made the news? Read this. And, don’t forget – anyone can join in on Foodie Pen Pals (there are over 1,300 participants worldwide now) – you don’t need to have a blog, just be someone who loves getting foodie care packages and is willing to put a box together for someone else.
This month I received a wonderful box of goodies from Jillian. Jillian lives in Colorado and sent me a box full of local foods. On top of that, she works in Social Media for Triscuit and a few other brands and she included a few samples. Sounds like a fun job to me.
Pictured above: local trail mix and one of Jillian’s favorite snacks, the Luna Bar. The Belvita and Jell-O are brands that she works on.
Pictured above: local kettle chips (gone – yum!), a yummy loaf of bread (see the almond butter & jam sandwich I made on it the other day), some local vitamin water and hot sauce and Jillian’s favorite tea.
It was such a yummy box of goodies. Thank you so much Jillian.
This month I sent a box of goodies to Melorie in Delaware. Melorie is a foodie blog reader and put together a little write up for you all to read here.

Hello, this was my first time participating in the group. I was excited and nervous at the same time. The foods I received were great. They were all foods I had never tried before.
The 5 minute Focaccia mix in Rosemary paired well with the black olive and artichokes bruschetta toppings. Also my girls had fun mixing the Focaccia. Moving on to the dark chocolate dipped almondina cookie mmmm is all I can say. Saving the best for last ,Chipotle Chili Dark Chocolate Bar from World Market, I was rendered speechless. So my foodiepal did a wonderful job putting this group of Italian themed foods together. Thank You.

They were actually kettle cooked chips – - even less healthy and even better tasting. Good thing the bag was small and they are already gone.
So many goodies, both given and received! I skipped this month since we traveled so much in August, but am excited to sign up again!

Thankfully we get reminder emails. There’s a set deadline date to mail or I’d procrastinate too.
I think it would be lots of fun to try new foods. I just wish we had interesting foods to share from where I live.

Do you have any local farmers’ markets? Those are usually good places to find small, local vendors.
Yum! Looks like you both got a great haul!
Thanks Marcia – such a fun program.
