I’ve said many times how I don’t have a good relationship with the scale. (source) It’s been many months since I stepped on the scale. I avoided it for a long time because I would beat myself up because of the number. But, at the same time I was fooling myself. I thought that I… more

It’s been more than 3 years since I started on this new path of healthy living. 3 years ago, I lost 40 pounds, started exercising, eating better, eventually running and blogging and becoming part of the amazing community of healthy living bloggers. But, it’s still not easy. Things I’ve learned along the way: You… more
Lessons from the kids

Lessons from the kids today. We were eating dinner a while ago and discussing everyone’s dinner choices (we were out to eat). I made a comment about something that finished with the statement, “you have a pretty well balanced diet.” She told me that diet is bad word. I thought about it for a minute… more

Three Things Thursday
1. My knee hurts – it doesn’t hurt a lot and it’s more noticeable walking down my stairs. The pain is right behind my kneecap. I really think I aggravated it on the elliptical on Tuesday. So, yesterday I did some lower body resistance band work. I have to imagine that staying away from the elliptical and the bike while doing some muscle strengthening is probably the best idea. Bummer, I really enjoyed the spin/yoga class double workout this past weekend.
2. I have a bruise on the tip of my big toe on my right foot. I think this injury is from a cute pair of shoes I wore last weekend. It actually hurts most when I’m wearing my flip flops. I must be gripping my toes funny. I think I just walk wrong. Or maybe I walk too hard.
3. Even with #1 and #2, I’m going for an easy run this morning. And, I’m still running my 5K on Saturday. Tomorrow is my birthday (can you all believe I haven’t been chattering away about it?) and I’m considering the race a birthday present to myself. Can’t think of a better way to kick of my 41st birthday weekend than with a 5K!!
