Be a Good Role Model

Kids don’t listen to lectures. Maybe someday when they’re older, they’ll hear your words coming out of their mouth and be shocked. But, they’re really good at tuning out a lecture. The thing I find most effective in getting my kids to learn life lessons is to be a good role model. … more
What do you bring?

This past weekend, I went to a birthday gathering for one of my very best friends. She asked us each to bring an appetizer to share for the crowd of about 15 people. What do you bring? I had a really hard time deciding on something and settled on a sweet treat type dish that… more
Why Do I Buy This?

I know why, but I also question why. One of my favorite afternoon snacks is a bowl of cereal. I like to combine a small serving of something healthy with a small serving of something sugary. It’s a little afternoon small indulgence, treat for the day (really, remember that 80/20 rule?).
Lately, my healthy cereal choice is Cinnamon Puffins.
For a long time, my sugary cereal of choice was Chocolate Cheerios.
I always have my cereal with Almond Breeze. I love almond milk in cereal.
But, back to my original question – Cinnamon Toast Crunch is like the cereal version of crack. I’m serious. I love the stuff, I could eat the whole box in one sitting.
So, why did I buy it? A momentary lapse of good judgement while grocery shopping? Probably. I have to report that I’ve made it last. While I haven’t been totally on the ball about serving sizes with this stuff, I have found myself having an extra little handful after serving up my snack. But, there’s still a good amount of cereal in the box in the cabinet, so I’m not going crazy.
But, it’s going to be a while before I buy this again.
Besides – it gets soggy so stinking quickly. Almost not worth it.
Do you love cereal? Is there a food you know you shouldn’t keep in your house?
