Best Body Bootcamp Update
Best Body Bootcamp is over. Cue the tears.
Ok, maybe not. Cue the motivation to keep up my workouts. I’m so glad I had BBB to get me into a routine these first 2 months of the 2013. By having the structure of Bootcamp right at the perfect timing of going back to work, I’ve been able to keep up my workouts on my super busy days.
I’ve gotten into the habit of making sure that I get in some exercise every day. I’ll admit that sometimes it’s a 15 minute strength routine, but there is movement 6 days a week. It’s now a habit. This is the end of the first week of no bootcamp and I still kept up my exercise routine. I’d say that’s a huge success.
Yesterday, I packed up all my gear and went for a run during my lunch hour. I took about 5 minutes to get changed, then I walked for about 5 minutes and then I hit the road for a 15 minute out and back run. I seem to always forget that I work in a hilly area. My route turned out to essentially be 15 minutes up hill and then 15 minutes down. Although the Garmin elevation doesn’t look like I went back down the same road I went up.
I cooled down a bit and then changed my clothes. I’m thankful that there is an air dryer in the bathroom so I could direct the air a bit and dry myself off.
Back to Tina’s Bootcamp. I did take some before and after pictures. I took multiple pictures – some in some jeans that I’d like to have fit better. I’m not sharing all of them, but I will share a few.
The good news is that my arms have toned up even more in 8 weeks.
Week 1 Week 8
I’m totally enjoying seeing muscles pop out all over. Hello guns!
I know I didn’t give the last 2 weeks of Bootcamp my 100% effort. Tina had some serious cardio workouts set into our program. Like I said, I would always get in my movement for the day, but I did focus more on the strength workouts than the cardio workouts. Since I also have my new Cathe DVD, I worked that in too.
Although at the same time, I have been building back up my running mileage. I’ve hit my stride again with running. I’m not training for anything or focusing on anything. I’m just running. Sometimes I do a 2:1 run walk, sometimes I run and take a break at the mile markers, I just do what feels good. My foot feels fine, everything feels great. I have no idea what’s in store for my running these days. I loved the Pajama 10K that I ran last June and am thinking that might be my next race. Maybe?
A little statistical recap from Bootcamp – Over the 8 weeks – I lost 1 inch off my waist, 1/2 inch from my hips and 1/2 inch from my thighs! I only started to add the scale in as a measurement 2 weeks ago and since then I’ve lost 2 pounds. I can see muscle tone in my thighs and I think my shape is looking more toned overall.
My body fat % is in the green range below for the 40-59 year old female, so that’s great! I can now do a handful of push ups on my toes, I can hold a plank longer and I also typically use 8-10 pound weights for all my exercises. Major progress!

So, what’s next?
I’ve signed up for another bootcamp! This one is in person! Perfect timing when my friend emailed me Groupon deal for an 8 week bootcamp. So I signed up with 7 of my friends. My gym buddy and a bunch of other mom friends! We went to the orientation the other night and I’m very excited to get started. My plan is to hit up Bootcamp 3 days a week. I’ve got a goal of getting down a few more pounds and a little lower body fat percentage.
Registration for Round 5 of Tina’s Best Body Bootcamp is open. BBB starts on April 1st. These two programs would overlap for 5 of the 8 weeks. So, I haven’t decided if I’m going to do BBB for the next round. I think I’m ready to enjoy some comeraderie in my workouts for a while and maybe I’ll sign up for round 6. I was sort of thinking that if I won one of the $1000 final prizes that I’d just sign up for both, but I wasn’t one of the big winners, so there’s that.
Carrie, you look fantastic! I see much more definition, and congrats on the inches lost!

It is fun to workout with my friends. Now if I can only find the time to blog about it.
This is awesome! And I can definitely see more muscle definition. I need to try a boot camp type setting for exercising but after Army Basic Training I stay away from those! Lol…I’m still scarred!
Too funny! No one is yelling at me, so that’s good.
Great job and the changes are wonderful

Thanks Jill – bootcamp is great although I’m realizing it stresses me out to need to be somewhere at a certain time. I like my own schedule.
