Bathing Suit Shopping
|June 22, 2012||Posted by Carrie under "me" movement, body image, Fitness Friday, inspiration|
I went bathing suit shopping the other day.
Want to know what? It wasn’t so bad.
I didn’t buy anything.
But, I was happy with the image that I saw in the mirror.
What I saw was a 40 year old body that is strong and healthy. There were flabby bits, there’s plenty of cellulite. But, it was me.
I’m not in supermodel shape. I don’t always make the choices that would get me to the ‘perfect’ shape portrayed by the media. But, I don’t want to be in perfect shape. I’m already in perfect shape for me.
Who decides what’s perfect? I think it’s up to me to decide. This process isn’t over. I’m always learning new things, growing, changing, making mistakes and learning from them.
I’m happy with who I am and where I am. Putting on a bathing suit means I’m healthy enough to go swimming, enjoy a day at the pool or the beach with my family and that I have the financial resources to go shopping.
All the important things.
Happy Fitness Friday – when was the last time you appreciated your body – flaws and all? Thanks Jill for hosting the blog hop.
