An out of the ordinary treat

I know I usually talk about eating healthy and taking care of my body, but then there’s that 10% of my eating that just wants something really indulgent. When it’s time for a treat, it’s gotta be an out of the ordinary treat. I’m really working on making that indulgent time only 10%. I guess if there are 21 meals in a week, it allows for 2 that aren’t stellar in health, right?
What I’m also working on is making sure that the indulgence is really that – nothing from Hostess, nothing from a package. If I’m indulging, it’s gotta be GOOD. Something usual, something homemade, something I can’t get frequently.
Last night was one of those nights – we ventured out to track down a local food truck. Yep, call me nuts, it was raining and I dragged my family to get me some grilled cheese. Originally it was going to be all 4 of us, but Dancing Girl got a better invitation to hang out with her friend, so it was just me and my boys.
I follow The Grilled Cheese Truck on Facebook, so I knew that they’d be in my neck of the woods. Doors were to open at 7PM. We got there at 6:30 and were about the 20th in line. Although the line filled out as the groups got bigger the closer to opening it got.
Did I mention is was raining?
But, it was sooo yummy! We didn’t even get to eat until probably 8:00 and we ended up sitting in the car to eat.
I had a Brie and carmelized onion sandwich.
Mr. Math Teacher had a cheddar, bacon, turkey and carmelized onion melt.
Dude had a combination American, Cheddar and Gruyere melt.
Can you tell that Dude enjoyed his sandwich? The cheese was just ooey gooey and yummy.
We had an order of tater tots to share too. They weren’t that great.
Such a yummy treat.
Have you ever tracked down a food truck? What’s your favorite? Would you wait in the rain?

On a healtier note: today’s gym workout is cross training and tomorrow I’ve got a 6 mile run. Gotta balance things out, right?

That sounds amazing – grilled cheese is one of my favorite foods ever. I do occasionally stalk the cupcake truck that parks near work. I used to be able to see it out my window before I moved offices. I love me some cupcakes.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
