It’s time for 23 PAWS – the fun animal loving blogger link up from Cinnamon at EatPrayTri. Go check out lots of fun loving animal posts and especially Cinnamon’s most adorable little dog, Guinness.
If you missed last month, I introduced you to my dog that I had as a child, Ezzie. She was a Puli. Go read all about that here.
For today’s doggy love fest, I wanted to share the funny things that my dogs do… Petey is quite a character. Lately, he’s taken to sleeping in the most random places. Mostly, it’s because his spot of choice gives him a good view something going on in the house, or potentially good access to falling food.
Here is dog on a shelf:
And sleeping on the armrest of the couch:
And then again on the bottom step of the staircase:
Cassie, on the other hand doesn’t really sleep anywhere unusual, in fact, she’s usually pretty busy all day and doesn’t nap much when we are home. Her quirk is the unusual things that she’s afraid of. We’ve known she’s afraid of thunderstorms, cameras, metal cans being opened and the beeping of our digital thermometer. We discovered a new one this week – she’s afraid of my Garmin. I don’t think I shut it off properly, so it will randomly beep for a while after I’ve used it (the beep sounds like the thermometer that she hates). It’s usually near my computer or in my workout bag and we don’t hear it, but we can tell by the way she’s acting that she hears it and isn’t happy. Poor kiddo.
While Cassie doesn’t like cameras, I can occasionally sneak up on her for a picture with my phone (I know I’m mean). I snapped this one yesterday – Petey with his usual table pillow.
On Friday last week, I decided to take both dogs for a walk at the beach. They were actually really well behaved, considering all of the dogs that were out, both dogs listened to me and walked along as they should. I took a little break to take some pictures. They were about as cooperative as my kids. Not only was Cassie not pleased with the camera, but she didn’t like being up on the wall either. I still like the pictures.
The dogs were pretty hot and tired and we only walked for a half hour. Petey was making for the shade of every car we passed.
So that’s my puppy love-fest for the day. Follow me on Instagram and you can be sure to get an overload of my dog pictures (and food pictures) – @familyfitnessfood
Anyone else have uncooperative kids and dogs when it comes to pictures?
Hope you all had a good weekend. I did go for a nice 6 mile run with my friend on Saturday and also went to Yoga yesterday. Along with some fun family and friend events, it was a good weekend.
Glad you had a good weekend:) Do those gentle leads keep your dogs from pulling? I’ve thought about trying them for my dogs because they pull so much when I walk them. hikermom recently posted..What is Your Healthy?
Yes, the Gentle Leads are awesome. It took a little practice and Petey still fights it a bit, but once we get going, he’s fine. Cassie doesn’t mind at all. You do have to use the leads properly and be very sensitive to the pressure. Our leads came with a DVD that was very very helpful to watch.
Hi, Carrie! First of all, I have to thank our dogs for bringing us together! It’s so nice to “meet” you! I saw that you are studying to become a RD! So am I! I look forward to following you on your journey! Very inspirational!
Haha! How is Petey sleeping on the armrest?!? That doesn’t seem very comfortable, but he sure is making it work somehow .
Kona is also deathly afraid of anything that beeps. Hopefully Cassie will start to like the camera, bc she’s so darn cute!!
ahhh! So cute! And Guinness got a shout out! He is so excited. I love Petey on the bottom step. Seems logical to me! haha. And Toby is always resting his head on whatever is nearby. Table, leg, ottoman, bench…doesnt matter. He will lay his head on it. I love the pics by the beach! They look tired but HAPPY! Cinnamon @ eatpraytri recently posted..23PAWS: Party (#2) {Videos}
Such funny pups we all have. I may just have to steal Guinness if I ever get near him… so stinking cute. He just looks like he doesn’t think he’s small.
oh yeah he totally doesn’t. He thinks he is a normal size dog and acts like it too. He actually probably just thinks he is a human. ha! Cinnamon @ eatpraytri recently posted..23PAWS: Party (#2) {Videos}
So cute! Our dog likes to sleep in between where we are, so if I’m in the kitchen and my son’s in the basement, she will sleep in the stairwell to the basement. Or, if he’s upstairs and we’re downstairs, she will sleep at the top of the stairs. And you’ve seen her sprinkler antics! Coco recently posted..Ten Minutes Of Tedium (Planks)
Hi Carrie (and pups)!
Loved the funny sleeping photos.
Like Cassie, Minnie hates the camera. I often try to use my phone but it’s so slow that she realizes and turns away. I have many pictures of her back/side.
As for fears…Minnie is afraid of the mop (totally silent) and a straw giraffe that I have. It would be so interesting to know what is going on their heads and why they have these fears.

Thanks. They do have very distinctive personalities.

Love the pics! My dog uses tables, window sills, etc to rest his head too!

Wow, nice to meet you! I love finding the blogs of other RD students. Fun that our dogs linked us up.
I saw that Kona is afraid of beeps – It always makes me wonder what started their fears. Poor things.

I can only sneak pictures with my phone. I guess it helps that I’m almost always holding the phone. Funny about the giraffe. Nice to meet you.
